Senator for Western Australia Linda Reynolds welcomes the announcement by the Federal Government that Lieutenant General Mark Evans has been appointed to conduct a review into the redevelopment of Seaward Village.

 
“As someone who has consulted widely with residents and advocated for a Ministerial review I believe that more open communication regarding future changes, paired with wider community consultations at Seaward Village are required”.

 
Senator Reynolds said that she is concerned that the proposed redevelopment would not be in the best interest of defence families at Seaward Village, both in terms of security and social impact to the close-knit community.

 
“I am hopeful that this review will lead to a suitable, long-term housing option that is in the best interest of the defence community”, she said.

 
The Terms of Reference are currently being finalised with the final report due to Government in early 2016.
